I originally studied art and interior design in Sydney, which led to a career in mural painting then interior design and decoration.

Over the years I have studied and worked in a wide range of arts and crafts media, including drawing, painting and print-making, and it was through my ceramics studies that I developed a love of mosaics and their sculptural qualities. Mosaic art became my chosen medium and in recent years I have completed a number of large-scale site-specific works for various clients.

I work with a variety of products suitable to the areas in which the mosaics are installed. For the Gold Coast Council, for example, I used vitreous tiles in the pavement as they are extremely hard wearing and the colour suffuses the entire tile: it cannot be scratched off the surface. Vertical surfaces or areas that are not heavy duty can look absolutely beautiful if the mosaic is made of Italian glass tiles, as they come in a wide range of colours.

Limitless in the themes they can convey, mosaics are tactile and vibrant; Mosaic art can be easily integrated into existing landscaping and built surfaces of any angle - from homes and gardens to parks and urban spaces. The enormous variety of glass and ceramic materials enable the creation of surfaces than can contribute to the dynamic interplay of surface, geometry, form and reflectivity.

I am especially interested in creating mosaic artworks that enliven and enrich architectural & landscaped structures and spaces, and to help define a sense of place.
